Before and After

I've been getting some requests for pictures of the house and the changes we've made to it. Since we've now been in the house a year, I thought now would be a good time to do that. The before pictures are pictures we took when we were looking at the house and not moved in yet.

The color of our house when we moved in was this nasty yellowish tan color with dark green trim.

Almost everyone in our neighborhood has stopped and told us how good it looks now. We never knew we'd cause quite the stir that we did. Our next project that we can hopefully do this fall is to re-do the front yard. (Hint Hint Dad)

a We have a quite a bit of room in the back yard and a huge apple tree. Timo and his dad just put in the fence and I'm going to plant some kind of tall flowering plant to add privacy to the deck.
Timo's next job is finishing putting a fence around the rest of the yard in the next week or so. That way I can get my dog. :)
This is our living room with my messy knitting station in the left corner.
Our awesome wood stove. This area is sectioned off by the couch to create an entry way into the house. The front door was to my back when I took the picture.

The kitchen, unfortunately does not have a lot of storage space for food or for random kitchen necessities.

The dining room and kitchen take up most of the back of the house. My back is to the kitchen in this picture. The sliding glass door to the left opens to the back yard and there is a door frame to the right that goes into the laundry room. I love how much light this room gets but was too boring with it being all white. This was the first room that I painted and made mine.
Standing from the doorway of the dining room and facing the laundry room, this section would be on the left side. We keep a pantry for some extra storage in here.

Although this is embarrassingly messy right now this is the most storage we have in the house. I made Timo put up shelves here as well as above the washer and dryer.

This is our spare bedroom that connects to the laundry room and to the entry way by the front door. I'm hoping to paint this room a deep purple or brown but that will probably have to wait for a while. We have a queen sized bed and welcome all visitors. :)

This is obviously our hallway. It's very narrow, which was a pain when we were moving. There is a door to the right (which can't be seen in the picture) that goes to our kitchen. The hallway starts by the fireplace and goes to the end of the house. The first door on the right is the bathroom, the door ahead is the fish/computer room, and the door on the left is our bedroom.
Our bathroom is pretty big. There is quite a bit of space in the other direction. We want to get rid of all the wood storage stuff and replace it with white cabinets and raise the sink a bit. I also need to repaint the entire room and would like to put in black and white tile. We'll see if that happens.

For some reason I didn't take a good picture of the room at the end of the hall. This is considered a bedroom but the closet at the end of the room as the water heater inside it so there is no room for any kind of storage... kinda weird.
So we turned this room into the fish/computer room. The wall opposite of the computer is also filled with fish tanks (let me tell you how much I love being taken over by fish), but hopefully this will someday be the baby room.

This is our room and it's actually pretty large with a nice sized closet. We have shelves to put up in here and I want to paint the walls at some point but this will probably be one of the last rooms we do anything to.

Another angle of the room.

This is our front door. I didn't take a picture of it since we moved in since we haven't changed anything with it.
