Labor Day

I was planning to get this blog done earlier but someone got in the way. Timo did a great job of doing my last blog for me so people could see our little guy since we couldn't upload pictures on facebook in the hospital. Now that he's a week old (where did the time go?) I figured I could take a couple of minutes to post some pictures and do a quick summary of our day.

I was scheduled to be induced because I was starting to develop preeclampsia and they don't let pregos go past 39 weeks and Friday was exactly 39 weeks for us. We showed up at 6:30 am to get registered, had my water broken by 7:30 and the pitocin by 8:00. I went in to the hospital already dilated to 3 cm and was 90% effaced so I had a good start. Contractions started as soon as my water broke and from that point on they came pretty hard and fast. Thankfully we had all of the seasons of The Office to keep me distracted until I couldn't handle it anymore and went for the epidural. I know, I know... I totally caved but am so glad I did! Will was blocking some of the epidural so I still could feel contractions and can't imagine how strong they actually were since I was still in pain. Mom thought it would make a good story to get me breathing through a contraction (before the epidural) which I didn't think was very funny...
so she told me to smile next time.

I tried my hardest to break Timo's hand but he's so strong that I couldn't. He was very good throughout the whole thing until I started pushing. Then he went white and could barely speak to me. I seriously thought he was going to pass out. Good thing Mom was there to help since Timo couldn't.

Then he was here! I was in labor for 7 1/2 hours... not 9 like Timo said, although it makes me sound tougher. Will was 7lbs 15oz and 21 inches long. He took to nursing right away and hasn't stopped eating since.

This was the first time Timo held his son! I love how proud and happy he looks.

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of Timo's mom holding Will for the first time so I'll put pictures of his parents up once I get them. Because of the flu scare only 2 people could be in the room at a time and that included Timo so all of our parents had to trade off seeing him. It was a bummer and a hastle to have to trade people constantly so everyone could see him and hold him but I am thankful that the hospital was being careful to keep our boy healthy.

Will is doing wonderfully at home. As I said, he eats all the time and has almost gained back all the weight he lost. He is unbelievably aware of his surroundings and already lifts his head to look around. It breaks my heart that he can do that already. He is starting to get his days and nights confused which isn't fun for me but I'm hoping he'll get on our schedule soon.
I'm healing really well. I tore about 2 inches and have been dealing with stitches which are very annoying and uncomfortable but they should be gone soon. I'm only 7 lbs away from my prepregnancy weight which is very exciting for me. I'm really anxious to start hitting the gym and have to remind myself that I need to take it easy. The late nights haven't been too bad yet. Timo isn't handling them well but he has also been working this past week and will work Monday and Tuesday. Then he'll be off until the new year. :) I've been trying to let him sleep since he is working but that will change once he's home for good.

Thankfully my mom has been here all week to cook, clean and hold Will. That has been so amazing to have her here to help. She leaves tomorrow but won't be gone long. My parents are going to be back for Thanksgiving. They just can't stay away. :)

Here are a few more pictures that my dad took of Will...

and he's now one week old.
