I think Timo is a tough guy. He has lots of muscles and works hard to keep those muscles. He is level headed almost to the point of being insensitive at times. The boys at school say he's the biggest guy they've seen in real life. They are amazed at how much weight he can lift and have told me numerous times that they were afraid of him when they first met him and would never challenge him to anything because they know he would win. And he reminds me all the time just how tough he is.
So what I don't get is how this tough guy turns to mush when it comes to Kenya. He fought getting a dog for so long. He told me he wasn't going to have anything to do with the dog once we got one and yet she has him wrapped around her paw so tightly.
Example 1: Walking the dog. When I walk Kenya she is expected to walk beside me whenever she is on the leash. If she pulls, I pull back and make her obey. If she continues to pull I put a thing on that goes around her nose that she absolutely hates but it forces her to walk correctly. When Timo walks her on a leash, she can go wherever she wants to. He'll take off the nose thing when I'm not looking because she doesn't like it. He never makes her obey on the leash causing more problems for me.
Example 2: Bed time. She has a kennel next to my side of the bed with a blanket in front of it. I let her choose if she wants to sleep in the kennel or on the blanket as long as she stays put. If she tries to jump on the bed then she is closed in the kennel for the rest of the night. But if she makes it to Timo's side of the bed, he'll let her crawl in bed with him and snuggle. Half the time he is telling her no, go to bed, bad dog while petting her and giving her loves. She knows that if she gets to him, he'll let her stay, making more problems for me.
Example 3: Feeding time. Right now Kenya gets fed up to 4 2/3 cups of food a day according to the bag of puppy food she is eating. She has learned to always go and check if there's food in her bowl everytime she comes in from outside. I have a schedule that I feed her on so I know that she doesn't miss food but doesn't get too much either. But, if Timo lets her in, she knows she can con him into giving her more food. I caught him two nights ago giving her a cup of food because she looked hungry and since she's a growing puppy she needs lots of food. That was probably the best day of her life and I have no idea how much food she actually got.
So now we're going to have an overweight and unobedient puppy thanks to my macho, manly man husband. Who knew he was this soft. I'm afraid what's going to happen when we have kids!!
